Claremont Cons 2 - 2 Old E | Author: fullers |
| | A very close game that could have gone either way. Claremont Cons took the lead early on, exploiting
some sloppy defending. Old England felt a little hard done by with an absolute stone wall penalty
being ignored by the referee - not for the first time this season. To add insult to injury Claremont
scored a second almost straight after this, a mistake from 'keeper openshaw as the ball skidded through
quicker than he had anticipated.
Old England were denied a goal back when the linesman somehow spotted an off-side in a packed penalty
area. Justice was done 10 minutes later though when a slip from the defender let myself in, chipping over the
the incoming keeper - 2-1.
Old E deserved a second when it came via a free-kick on the edge of the box. An earlier kick was well
kept out by the 'keeper from the inspirational Craig Hunt. I took the next one and put it over the
wall and in off the bar. 2-2
Hunt went off injured which evened the game out and either side could have nicked it. Some acrobatic
from Openshaw in net kept Cons at bay, Rick Blampied had two chances to win it but fluffed them both.
