Contract Updates. Chris P, Clarkey, Kyle, Mick C, Lee Johnson, Foy, Chris R & Simmo all signed this week. Not much to report from presentation evening, other than Mick forgot to book pitches for friendlies & Foy has suspected Swine Flu and decided to try and spread it throughout the team by coming down to sign on.
CONTRACT NEWS!!! Influencial midfielder Lee Johnson has confirmed he will be signing a new contract with The Old England. After a short meeting with club officials, Johnson 38 was deleighted to announce he would be signing and has stated he is looking forward to a full season with the Tangerines. After a strict pre season diet of lager and kebabs it is thought Johnson will be as good as ever and hopefully add a few more goals to his tally.!
Player/Secretary Mick Cleary is thought to have turned down the offer of a 1 year contract, stating lack of first team football as the reason. It is thought that Cleary now around 40+ is looking for more regualr football before his inevitable retirement from the game. Supporters Spokesman Mel had this to say" I think its a shame Mick has turned down the contract, my Mike looks up to him so much" Manager Andy Taylor will be working hard in the coming weeks to persuade his right hand man to stay, there are rumours Taylor will be creating a new award "Secretary of the Year" to try and get Cleary to stay.
Neil Nuckley aka Nuckers, has apparantly held talks with Liverpool based Wavertree Wanderers. Old England Manager Andy Taylor was not available to comment at this time, but he is thought to be seeking crisis talks with his skipper and clubman of the year. If Nuckley was to leave the club, it is thought Taylor would actively be recruiting a new Net man. Nuckley's agent was on hand to offer a comment on the speculation saying "Neil is looking at cutting travelling to around 10 miles a weekend, we have been seeking talks with The Old England for several weeks but the manager has been sunning himself in Florida. Therefore we have no choice but to look for a new club closer to home for Neil" Fans close to the club think that the scouser is going no where, one fan said "Nuckers is going nowhere, where else can you win clubman of the year every year? Unless he is just bothered about the money he should stick around for one more year"
